The centre covers 270 acres of wetlands, woodlands, meadows, and lakes, making it a haven for wildlife and a great place to explore for nature lovers of all ages.
The centre is managed by the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales and has been designed to provide a safe and welcoming environment for wildlife, while also offering visitors the chance to learn about the flora and fauna of the area.
One of the main attractions of the Welsh Wildlife Centre is the number of walking trails and nature walks that are available. There are over five miles of walking trails throughout the reserve, ranging from easy-access boardwalks through the wetlands to more challenging hikes through the woodland and meadows.
The reserve is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including otters, kingfishers, badgers, red kites, and a range of rare and protected birds. Visitors can spot these animals from one of the many bird hides located throughout the reserve, or take part in a guided tour to learn more about the wildlife that calls the reserve home.
For families, the Welsh Wildlife Centre also offers a range of educational activities and events, including pond-dipping sessions, wildlife-themed craft workshops, and nature walks led by experienced guides. There is also a children’s play area, a café serving locally-sourced food, and a gift shop selling souvenirs and gifts.
Another highlight of the Welsh Wildlife Centre is the Glasshouse Cafe, which serves a range of delicious homemade cakes, sandwiches, and meals, all made using locally-sourced ingredients. The café is housed in a stunning glasshouse, which overlooks the wildlife reserve and provides visitors with a unique and peaceful setting to enjoy a meal or a coffee.
